WCAG

WCAG is an acronym for the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines” which are technical standards on web accessibility created and maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are used world wide by organizations and lawmakers to ensure their digital content meets the needs of those with a broad range of disabilities.

WCAG has versions: 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 and levels A, AA, and AAA. Version 2.2 is the most recent version that was released in October 2023, and at this time (Aug, 2024), most legal guidelines that refer to WCAG still use 2.0 or 2.1 as their reference.

Each criteria within the WCAG document has a level of A, AA, or AAA which refers to the conformance level. A is the lowest and easiest to meet, AA is the mid-range, and AAA is the highest conformance level.
